Wanganui Glass Student wins RANAMOK  

Wanganui Glass School, Whanganui UCOL second year Diploma in Glass Design and Production student Lisa Walsh has been announced as the winner of the Ranamok Prize for 2009.
The Ranamok Prize, established 15 years ago, annually showcases contemporary glass created by artists from Australia and New Zealand. Over the years the prize has grown steadily in stature and reputation to the point where it is now recognised as the premier event of its kind in Australasia. ..more

In conjunction with the Wanganui Literary Festival 18-20 September

Chris Finlayson Minister for the Arts Culture and Heritage will officiate at a joint opening for the Wanganui Festival of Glass and the Literary Festival on the 18th of September. The Festival of Glass program of workshops will be online at www.wanganuiglass.co.nz from August 10th.

The Festival of Glass 2009 includes a number of other cultural events  Literary Festival will be hosting featured writers Kate de Goldi, Kevin Ireland, Hamish McDouall and Joan Rosier-Jones amongst others at various venues around Wanganui. www.writersfest.co.nz.

Camera Club Exhibition: Glass Art & Architectural Glass September 18-27

On Saturday 26th Inspiring Windows Self guided tour in Wanganui includes Memorial Hall, local churches and Wanganui Collegiate Chapel. Council Chambers Windows feature talks by Greg Hall & Julie Greig at 11am & 2pm.

The Wanganui Glass School will be displaying work and demonstrating glass blowing over the Festival.
